Lorena Bowers, 97, of Shippensburg, PA, died peacefully Saturday morning, March 2, 2013 at Quincy United Methodist Home. Born October 27, 1915 in Montgomery, AL, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Johanna Renka Adlesich. A homemaker most of her life she treasured her children and their families as the center of her life. Mrs. Bowers had a great love for God and her country, being the first in her family to be born in the United States. She had attended St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Shippensburg. She loved to paint and enjoyed singing, reading, and dancing. Mrs. Bowers also enjoyed writing poetry and was honored to have her work published. She was an accomplished seamstress, having made many of her own clothes throughout her lifetime.
Mrs. Bowers is survived by four children, David L. Bowers and wife Susan of Clarksburg, WV, Patricia A. Gage and husband Robert of Fayetteville, PA, Sondra K. Bollinger and husband Rick of Bridgeport, WV, and J. Frank Bowers and wife Karen of Lost Creek, WV; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Weber of St. Louis, MO. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Demetriff and a brother, Joseph Adlesich.
Services and interment entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA will be private.
