Lorraine Christman

July 21, 1927 — January 24, 2018

Lorraine Webber Christman, 90, of Chambersburg, PA, went to Heaven to be with Jesus Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at the Shook Home. Born July 21, 1927 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Albert C. and Mary E. Davis Webber. She was a 1944 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and was empoloyed in Personnel at Lettkerkenny Army Depot for a number of years. She retired from Letterkenny as the Chaplain’s secretary. She was a life-long, faithful member of St. James United Brethren Church. She was involved in Child Evangelism, Christian Endeavor, and teaching children’s Sunday School classes. She lived with Parkinson’s Disease with dignity for over 30 years. Her heart’s desire was for people to know the Lord. Mrs. Christman was an avid read and loved going to Coyle Free Library. She loved music, singing hymns, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her husband, Merle John Christman, whom she married April 16, 1949, preceded her in death on on February 11, 2017.

She is survived by four children, Alan Christman of Grove City, PA, Mary McGowan (Robert) of Chambersburg, Beth Griest of Chambersburg, and Joel Christman (Donna) of Clarion, PA; five grandchildren, Shane Griest (Schen) of Cleveland, OH, Todd Griest (Sarah) of Shade Gap, PA, Jennifer Christman of Chambersburg, Scott Christman (Cherlyn) of Georgia, and Micah McGowan (Lindsay); nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred Carter of Chambersburg; and a brother, Glenn Webber (Sally) of Chambersburg. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Wilson and Hazel Smith; and a great-grandson, Nicholas.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 10, 2018 at St. James United Brethren Church, 2398 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Murray Stevens will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James United Brethren Church, 2404 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
