Lorraine Koons

January 3, 1925 — January 11, 2017

Lorraine E. Koons, 92, of Chambersburg, died on Wednesday evening January 11, 2017 at Menno Haven. Born on January, 3rd 1925, she was the daughter of the late C. Blaine Rotz and Mary Jane Buterbaugh Rotz. Lorraine was a faithful member of the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren. She was the co-founder of Scotland Road Market Inc. / The Butcher Shoppe in Chambersburg. Her dedication and over 50 years of working in her families’ business was for her a life-long joy. It was second only to her dedication to her marriage and family.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, C. Glenn Koons and their two children, Terry G. Koons (Carol) and Mary Sue Keath (Frank) both of Chambersburg: one brother, Robert C. Rotz, (Marie); three nieces, Linda R. Weldon (Keith), Barbara Ann Pinkussohn (Jeff), Cindy D. Rotz; and cousins. She will also be cherished and lovingly missed by her five grandchildren, Lori Ann Long (David), Tricia L. Maciejewski (Mark) Adam M. Keath (Melanie), Anne E. Schoenhofen (Leo), Kyle W. Keath (Gabrielle), and by her twelve great grandsons, Grant Schoenhofen, Aaron Keath, Owen Keath, Enoch Keath, Pierce Schoenhofen, Maxwell Riley, Brady Maciejewski, Cooper Keath, Isaac Schoenhofen, Levi Maciejewski, Henry Schoenhofen and Shepherd Keath. In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by two brothers, C. Blaine Rotz Jr. and Paul E. Rotz; and by two nieces, Carol J. Rotz and Karen L. Rotz.

A private memorial service will be held Thursday morning, January 19, 2017 at the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren. Rev. Harold E. Yeager will officiate. A private interment will precede the service at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. There will be no viewing.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren, 260 South Fourth Street and NETwork Ministries, 10 Redwood Street, both in Chambersburg, PA 17202
