Louis Edward Domato, age 91, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Menno Haven in Chambersburg, PA. Born June 19, 1925, on Long Island, NY, he was the son of the late Anthony J. and Helen C. Stockmar Domato.
A WWII POW, Mr. Domato served honorably in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Open Door Church. Faithful to his Lord, Mr. Domato participated in Pals for Christ, a Bible study in prisons in New York and helped the less fortunate in various missions after moving to Pennsylvania. .
Surviving is his beloved wife, Siv Ellen Jansson Domato, whom he married December 1, 1951, two daughters, Vivian E. Muchmore (husband Allen) of New Cumberland, PA and Lorraine E. Buerkert of Franklin Square, NY; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Domato. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony in infancy; a sister, Emily Domato, and a brother, Paul Domato.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at 3 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Mike Sanders will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the funeral home and on Monday, April 3, 2017, from 9 – 10 AM. Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Air Hill Cemetery, where military honors will be provided by members of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Open Door Church (Building Fund), 600 Miller St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
