Louise M. Cool Brookens, 87, formerly of Fayetteville, PA died Tuesday morning, December 18, 2012 at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where she had been a guest since June 21, 2006. Born May 13, 1925 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose W. and Catherine Foose Cool. A homemaker most of her life, Louise was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her husband, Charles T. "Whitey" Brookens, preceded her in death on May 2, 1994.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol Kauffman and husband Edward of Fayetteville and Judy L. Hock and husband Kenneth D. of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Betty Jane Huntington of Virginia Beach, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Brooke Noelle Gervasio; and a brother, James Cool.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Friday, December 21, 2012 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will follow in Corpus Christi Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA.
