Louise Keller Cook, 89, of Chambersburg, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the Penn Hall Retirement Community. Born on February 15, 1922, in Letterkenny Township, she was a daughter of the late John and Lena Hammond Keller. She was the widow of Richard E. Cook, who preceded her in death in 2002.
A 1941 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Louise retired from the Chambersburg Area School District in 1984. She had previously worked for the Greene Township School District and the former Chambersburg Engineering Company. She was a former member of King Street United Brethren Church until transferring her membership in 1946 to Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church, where she taught Sunday school from 1949 to 1976.
She is survived by her son, Thomas R. Cook (and his wife, June) of Carlisle, PA; her grandchildren, David Cook (and his wife, Emily, and their son, Graham) of Charleston, SC, Douglas Cook (and his wife, Bridget, and their son, Liam) of Durham, NC, Brian Cook (and his wife, Sharmila) of Hamden, CT, and Allison Kerwin (and her husband, Kevin) of Madison WI. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Tim E. Cook and daughter-in-law, Susan Cook; two brothers, John Melvin Keller, and Robert M. Keller; and two sisters, Evelyn Keller Eberly, and Jean Keller Kell.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, September 29, 2011, at the Mt Pleasant Church, 2509 Black Gap Rd., Chambersburg PA. Rev. Ronald Cook will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM Wednesday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and as well as at the church one hour before the funeral.
