Lovetta P. “Betty” Carbaugh, 98, of Chambersburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Providence Place. Born November 21, 1919 in Washington Township, she was a daughter of the late Emmert C. and Mabel J. Gardenour Barnhart. Her beloved husband, Howard Fortney Carbaugh preceded her in death in 1978.
Lovetta was a 1937 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She was employed as a seamstress at the Stanley Co. and J. Schoeneman Co. for 22 years. A longtime member of King Street United Brethren Church, she belonged to the Golden Links Sunday school class. Lovetta enjoyed travelling and cooking for her family. The most important thing in her life was her children and grandchildren and their families.
She is survived by three children, Shelva Baker and husband Billy of Chambersburg, Paul Carbaugh and wife Karen of Warfordsburg, and Kimberly McNew and husband Brian of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Lovetta was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 25, 2018, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Paul B. Baker and Rev. Ron Cook will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
