Lowell Catlett

June 27, 1934 — January 8, 2021

Lowell “Tom” Catlett, 86, of Greencastle, passed away on January 8, 2021 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 27, 1934 in Berkeley Springs, WV, he was a son of the late Helene B. Catlett Haines.

Tom graduated from McKinley Technology High School in Washington DC. A US Army veteran, Tom served honorably from 1957 - 59. He was employed as an electronics technician with the Defense Mapping Agency in Glen Burnie, MD for over 35 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Marion United Methodist Church. Tom was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing, repairing televisions, camping and doing cross stitch and puzzles. A dedicated family man, Tom loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth M. Greer Catlett; two children, David Catlett of Hagerstown, MD and Cindy Catlett of Boonsboro, MD; four grandchildren, Kayley Hoffman and husband Kurt of McConnellsburg, PA, Paige Wilde and husband Spencer of Rexburg, ID, Stephanie Hilton of NC and Timothy Hilton of Boonsboro, MD; one great-grandson, Levi Hoffman; two siblings, Kay Palmer and Richard Haines; and a cousin, Carroll Pittman. In addition to his mother, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Haines; grandparents, Hillary J. and Melba Catlett who helped to raise him; and three uncles, Paul, Ned and Brahm Catlett who were like brothers to him.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Marion United Methodist Church, 94 Colorado St., Marion, PA 17235.
