LTC Alfred James Ziegler (U.S.A. Ret.), age 72, of Chambersburg, PA passed away unexpectedly in his home on Monday, September 30, 2013. Born in Three Rivers, MI on December 19, 1940, he was the son of the late Alfred R. and Dorothy Ziegler.
LTC Ziegler earned his Master’s degree in 1974 in industrial engineering from the University of Michigan, he served in the U.S. Army on Active Duty for 21 years retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1985. His career took him throughout Europe and Vietnam, where he was awarded five purple hearts. He enjoyed collecting Antique Clocks, after retirement he became an Antique Dealer. He was a member of the NAWCC.
Surviving is his wife of 38 years, Susan Quick Ziegler, whom he married on November 30, 1974; three sons, Jeffery, Michael, and Cory Ziegler all of Michigan, and two siblings, Barbara J. Chapman (husband Robert) of Kalamazoo, MI and Patty Sutton of Florida.
Funeral services will be held at a later date at the Ft. Meyer Chapel, Arlington, VA. Interment will follow the service in Arlington National Cemetery, with full military honors. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 6:00 until 7:00 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA.
