Lucas Norman Coons, age 22, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Born January 17, 1992 in Chambersburg, he is the son of Curtis Norman Coons and Kelli Gettel Coons both of Chambersburg, PA.
A 2010 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, Lucas continued his education, where he had attended Harrisburg Area Community college. Most recently, Lucas was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot as a welder. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting, playing basketball, skate boarding, snowboarding, music, cars, and working out. A compassionate and loving person, Lucas could always put a smile on your face.
In addition to his parents, Lucas is survived by his step mother, Angie Coons of Chambersburg, PA, his brother, Logan C. Coons (wife Lynsay) of Chambersburg, PA, his paternal grandparents, Norman and Mary Jane Coons of Dry Run, PA, maternal grandparents, Wayne and Sally Gettel of Chambersburg, PA, step brother, Elam “Zach” Oberholzer (wife Shyla) of Rockhill Furnace, PA, step sister, Tasha N. White (husband Chad) of Chambersburg, PA, his girlfriend, Athena Barbour of Chambersburg, PA, nephews, Jaxon N. Coons and Ethan White, nieces, Savannah White and Addie and Avery Oberholzer, his uncles, Dennis Coons (wife Sharon) and Gregg Gettel (wife Debbie) and Gary Gettel (companion Suzanne), and his Aunt, Debra Medley (husband Ken). In addition, Lucas is survived by numerous cousins and extended family.
Funeral services will be held in honor of Lucas on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Dr. Meagan Boozer will officiate. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 6 – 8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will follow the service in Norland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to Habitat for Humanity, 23 North Third St., Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the United Way of Franklin County, 182 South Second St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
