Luella Caution Crittenden, 89, a resident of Menno Haven, participant in LIFE Lutheran Services Program, and formerly of Hollywell Avenue, Chambersburg, died Sunday October 30, 2011 in Menno Haven. Born on October 4, 1922 in Mercersburg, she was the daughter of the late Keyser and Annie Thorton Caution. She was married to Minor P. Crittenden who preceded her in death on February 5, 2011.
Luella retired in 1986 from the Chambersburg Hospital, where she was a Nurses’ Aid for more than twenty years. A very active member of St. James AME Church in Chambersburg, she served on the Usher Board, Birthday Committee, Pastor’s Aid Society, and sang in the Senior Choir.
Luella is survived by four children; Keyser Crittenden (and fiancé Joyce Riley) of Chambersburg, Sally Jones (and husband Frank) of Upper Marlboro, MD, Judith Grant of Chambersburg and Robert M. Crittenden (and wife Renae) of Fayetteville, PA. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Aside from her husband, Luella was preceded in death by a sister; Arlene Dizard and two brothers; William H. and Lawrence Caution.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday November 5, 2011 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. The Rev. R. Wilmer will officiate. Interment will follow at Lebanon Cemetery, Chambersburg. At the family’s request, there will be no visitation prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. James AME Church, 510 S. Main Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
