Elder Lula M. Harris, 98, of Wyncote, PA and formerly of Chambersburg, passed Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Cliveden Convalescent Center in Philadelphia, Pa. Born June 21, 1913 in Marion, SC., she was a daughter of the late Frank and Lualma Mason. Her husband, Dr. William L. Harris preceded her in death on October 19, 1981. She had been employed at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg. Pa.
Elder Harris was an ordained minister in Kings Apostle Church World Ministries. She served as a preacher and teacher of the Gospel in her local church, Greater Campher Temple, KACWM, in Hagerstown, Md. In addition to Bible College, she also attended Hagerstown Community College. Earlier in her ministry, she served as a youth educator and advisor with the Church of God in Christ in Philadelphia, Pa. She had a passion for leading Sunday school and young adult studies. Elder Harris was a noted musician, teaching piano to young and old, and serving as an accompanist for soloist and choirs.
She is survived by her son, William V. Harris of Chambersburg; a niece, Jane Forsythe, two nephews, John Copeland, Sr. and Prince Burnett; a great-niece, Katrina Forsythe, three great-nephews, Delanzo and Kenneth Forsythe and John Copeland, Jr., all of Philadelphia, Pa., also a treasured God-son, Stanley Davis, whose mother was her dear friend, the late, Elder Mary Davis, and also a host of friends. The last of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by a sister, Hallie Burnett.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Kings Apostle Holiness Church, 125 Bethel Street, Hagerstown, MD where friends will be received from 10-11:00 AM. Interment will be in Lebanon Cemetery, Chambersburg.
