Lynne M. Peters

Lynne M. Peters, 77, of Orrtanna, PA, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024 at her home after a long-fought battle. Born February 16, 1947 in New Kensington, PA, she was the daughter of the late James Donald and Esther Elizabeth Dinsmore McCammon.

Lynne was a 1965 graduate of New Kensington High School. She then earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Shippensburg University in 1969. Lynne was employed as a 1st grade teacher at Duffield Elementary until her retirement in 2005. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring where she served as a Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, and was active in the Presbyterian Women and the bell choir. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Chambersburg Afternoon Club. Lynne was a crafter and Stampin’ Up demonstrator for over 30 years. She enjoyed reading, golfing, traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Bennett G. Peters, whom she married on June 16, 1990; two daughters, Jodi Wright and husband James, and Amy Lipchock and husband Michael; four grandchildren, Kira Wright, Colton Wright and wife Elise, Michael Lipchock, and Jacob Lipchock; and two brothers, Bill and Jim McCammon.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 16, 2024 at the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring, 221 N. Main Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Rev. Andy Hart will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 and following the service on Monday at the church.
