M. Marie Yocum, 93, of Chambersburg, died on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 in Providence Place. Born on February 2, 1919 in McAlevys Fort, PA, she was a daughter of Henry Miller and Jessie Bigelow Miller. Her husband, James E. Yocum whom she married on August 25, 1945, preceded her in death on January 11, 1994.
A graduate of Thompson Business School in Harrisburg, PA, Marie worked as an office assistant at the New Holland Plant in Belleville, PA for 23 years and retired in 1976. She was a member of West Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church, and a Past Worthy Matron of the Lewistown Eastern Star Chapter #283.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan Kittrell (husband Ed) of Naples FL.; five grandchildren, Jo Ann McGettigan of Sicklerville, NJ, Steven R. Yocum of Townsend, DE, Rebecca Hoke of Chambersburg, PA, Robert D. Yocum of Chambersburg, PA, and George Campbell of Bensalem, PA; ten great-grandchildren; and one brother, Jay Miller of Petersburg, PA. Aside from her parents and husband, Marie is preceded in death by two sons, James E. Yocum II, and Robert H. Yocum; four brothers; and three sisters.
Services under the direction of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center will be held at the convenience of the family.
