Mabel Jones

Mabel K. Jones, age 87, formerly of Orrstown, PA, died on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 in the Shook Home. Born on August 22, 1923 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Bard L. Miller Sr. and Anna Cramer Miller. She was the widow of Walter R. Jones Sr., who preceded her in death on November 20, 1989.
A 1942 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, she was homemaker and seamstress for most of her adult life. She was a former member of the ladies’ auxiliaries of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 842, Hume McNeil Byers Amvets Post 224 and Burt J. Asper American Legion, all in Chambersburg.
Surviving are four children, Walter R. “Butch” Jones Jr., formerly of Chambersburg, Jacquelyn J. Merryman of Knoxville, TN, Carol Ann (and husband, Shorty) Hutchison of Daytona Beach, FL, and Terry L. (and wife, Linda) Jones of Chambersburg; 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Barb Brantner, Lillian Hawbaker, and Janet Etter, and one brother, Bard Miller Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 21, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Rev. Lester F. Stine will officiate. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Contributions may be made in Mabel’s memory to a charity of one’s choice
