Mae A. Kochert, 91, recent resident of Menno Haven, Inc., went on to be with her Lord and Savior on October 4, 2011. She was born Mae Alverta Wolfe in Lebanon, PA on May 29, 1920. She attended Pine Grove High School. After high school she worked in a hosiery factory. She enlisted in the United States Army in January, 1942, where she served her country as a WAC until August, 1945. She and her late husband, James F. Kochert, were married on November 27, 1944 in Selfridge Field, MI. She was a loving mother and a homemaker for many years before being employed at the Chambersburg Hospital in Central Supply. After retirement she served at the Senior Center preparing taxes for other retirees. She also volunteered many years at South Mountain Nursing Care Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1986, her daughter Joan M. Toner, in 2006, and her grandson Jeffrey A. Toner. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Wolfe and step-brother, William Conrad. She is survived by her daughter Eileen A. Petit (husband, Nelson), son Robert C. Kochert (wife, Theresa), daughter Katherine L. Paul, (husband, Kirk), and sons Dennis J. Kochert, (wife, Denise), and James A. Kochert. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Mae enjoyed cooking, crocheting, walking, gardening, and reading her Bible, which she read twenty-seven (27) times. She also enjoyed visits from her children.
A private funeral service will be held at the family’s convenience.
