Margaret Jane Cox, 92, of Fayetteville and formerly of Harrisburg, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012 in the Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. Born on October 5, 1920 in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of the late Roy Waltz and Inis Harvey Waltz.
Margaret graduated from the former William Penn High School in Harrisburg. She was retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, where she had worked as a statistician. A member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg, Margaret’s family was her life. Times she cherished most were those spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are five children, Bonnie Onomastico (husband Vincent) of Fayetteville, Elwood “Woody” Cox (wife Bonnie) of Harrisburg, Christina Cox (partner Nancy Neill) of Layfayette Hill, PA, Timothy Cox (wife, Leann) and Linda McPhillips (husband, Terence), all of Harrisburg; 10 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. The last of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Thursday, January 3, 2013 in Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, with Rev. Fr. James R. O’Brien officiating. Interment will follow in Corpus Christi Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, January 2, in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 417 Phoenix Dr. Chambersburg, PA 17201; or to the American Diabetes Foundation, 3544 N. Progress Ave. Harrisburg, PA 17110. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the excellent care provided by the nursing staff at Holy Spirit's Ortenzio Heart Center.
