Margaret E. Fahnestock, 85, formerly of 111 Eisenhower Drive, Chambersburg, PA, died Friday morning, May 25, 2012 at Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 8, 1927 in Scotland, PA, she was a daughter of the late William and Della Coldsmith Stewart. A 1946 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Margaret had been employed as a waitress at the former Kustard Kitchen and at the Molly Pitcher Waffle Shop, both in Chambersburg. She was a member of Mount Pleasant United Brethren Church.
A loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, Raymond A. Fahnestock, whom she married August 11, 1946; three children, E. Carl Fahnestock and wife Lily H. Fahnestock of Chambersburg, PA, Patricia A. Gearhart and husband William of Mountville, PA, and Debra J. Brookens and husband William of Chambersburg; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Helen G. Decker of Chambersburg and Thelma M. Johnson of St. Thomas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles R. Fahnestock; a brother, William W. Stewart, Jr.; and a sister, Pauline Stewart.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, May 31, 2012 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Garry Culler will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Wednesday and from 10:30-11:30 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
