Margaret E. “Peggy” Fegan, 94, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Tuesday morning, November 9, 2021 at Chambers Pointe Healthcare Center. Born November 8, 1927 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Herbert E. and Margaret Smith Eckels. She was a graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and was employed early in life at the former Stanley Company. She was employed for a number of years at the former Franklin County Nursing Home, first as a nursing assistant, and then as a Physical Therapy Aide prior to her retirement. Peggy was a long-time member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her hobbies included dancing with her husband, cooking, baking, sewing, and reading, and later in life puzzling. She loved being a caregiver and sharing her love with other people.
She is survived by her husband of 75 years, James E. Fegan, Sr., whom she married January 6, 1946; four children, Nina Fegan, Tauna Brown and husband Ron, James E. Fegan, Jr. and wife Martina, and Mark E. Fegan and wife Nancy, all of Chambersburg; ten grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; her brother, Harry “Bud” Eckels and wife Betty; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Jack, and Richard Eckels; and three sisters, Virginia Newcomer, Martha Feldman, and Donna Walter.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Norland Cemetery. Rev. Layne Miller will officiate.
