Margaret Frey

Margaret Moore Frey, age 88, of Chambersburg, died on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 in Penn Hall, Chambersburg. Born on May 27, 1923 in Hinton, WV, she was a daughter of the late John T. Moore and Josie M. Meadows Moore. She was the widow of J. Melvin Frey, who preceded her in death on March 27, 2007.

Margaret grew up in Brookville, PA. After graduating in 1940 from the former Corsica Union High School, Margaret earned her bachelor’s degree from the former Clarion State Teachers College and her master’s degree from Penn State University. She was a retired school psychologist, having counseled at the Lincoln Intermediate Unit and the Chambersburg Area School District. She attended Central Presbyterian Church in Chambersburg for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, sang in the choir and led Women’s Circle. She also volunteered with Bible Release Time, Camp Joy El Ministries, Chambersburg Hospital Auxiliary and the Community Concerts Association. In 1992 she was featured in Who’s Who in American Women.

Surviving are her four children, John W. Frey (and wife, Elizabeth) of Myersville, MD, Eleanor “Ellie” Frey Kielty (and husband, Paul) of Milford, PA, Andrew P. Frey (and wife, Karen) of Chambersburg, and Emily Frey of York; one brother, Dr. J. William Moore of Lewisburg, PA; two sisters, Catherine McCoy of St. Thomas and Virginia Means of Lewisburg; four grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 20, 2012 at Central Presbyterian Church, 40 Lincoln Way West, Chambersburg, with Rev. John Helgeson officiating. Interment will follow in Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Sunday, February 19, in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg, and also one hour prior to the service in the church on Monday.
