Margaret Hill

Margaret H. Hill, 92, of Chambersburg passed away on Friday, October 18, 2013 at Menno Haven. Born August 20, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Charlie R. and Rev. Florence L. Hamilton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Harland A. Hill on September 2, 1985.

A 1944 graduate of Houghton College in NY, Margaret furthered her education by earning a Master’s degree in Education from Shippensburg University. She was a school teacher for 40 years and taught in Spring City, Kittanning, Titusville, and Chambersburg School Districts. An accomplished organist, Margaret served as a church organist for 83 years since the age of nine. She was a member of The Open Door Church in Chambersburg.

Margaret is survived by two daughters, Martha H. Meyer and husband Marvin of Wayne, PA, and Miriam H. Simpson of Fullerton, CA; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 28, 2013 at The Open Door Church, 600 Miller St, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Rev. Mike Sanders will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
