Margaret Maxwell

Margaret Elizabeth Maxwell, 97 of Concord, PA, known to her family and friends as “Marg” or “Peg”, passed away Monday evening, April 6, 2015 at her daughter’s home in Carlisle. Born April 11, 1917 in Osceola Mills, PA, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Ellen Olson Wiberg. A 1935 graduate of the Altoona High School, Mrs. Maxwell was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Concord. Her husband, Charles Maxwell, Sr., whom she married August 21, 1941, preceded her in death on May 2, 1988.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia McGee and husband Ronald of Concord and Pamela Hawbaker and husband Larry Hinkle of Carlisle; six grandchildren, Leisa Craver, Kim Muir, Kris Maxwell, Stacy McGee, Kyra Stark, and Heather Hawbaker; and nine great-grandchildren, Damian Maxwell, Carly Staley, Kendall Stark, Sienna Stark, Thaddeus Miller, Bohdi Muir, Brady Muir, Charlee Noble, and Xavier Miller. Also surviving are a brother, John Wiberg of Altoona; a sister, Betty Turner of Tonawanda, NY; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles “Chuck” Maxwell, Jr; and four siblings, William “Billy” Wiberg, Hannah Louise Beahm, Robert Wiberg, Jr., and James Wiberg.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Upper Path Valley Cemetery, Spring Run, PA with Rev. Marlin A. “Butch” Neil officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spirit Trust Lutheran Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
