Margaret Nelson

September 1, 1926 — August 29, 2013

On Thursday, August 29, 2013, Margaret Bradley Nelson passed from this world to be with our heavenly Father. She was born September 1, 1926 to Fulton and Lennie Bradley, in Jackson, NC. She was married to R.V. Nelson, the love of her life, on August 2, 1947. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2011.
Margaret attended Peace College in Raleigh, NC; East Carolina University, where she studied Home Economics, and Shippensburg University, studying education. She worked at various jobs throughout her life, including dietician at Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth, VA, teacher of exceptional children at Brown’s Mill Elementary School, and Learning Disability Aid for the LIU. Through the years she volunteered for many causes and in her church. Margaret was a loving, caring and devoted mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling with her husband in their RV, oil painting, sewing, gardening, and needlework.
Surviving are her three children; son, Charles E., (wife Sandra); son, Benjamin J., (wife, Remle); daughter, Vivian N. Furry, (wife of Jeff); two grandchildren; Joshua B. Nelson, (wife, April); Kate M. Nelson; and two great-granddaughters; Kylah Nelson and Hattie Nelson. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ada Bradley and her three children; her sister-in-law, Mary Kathryn Bottoms, (wife of James) of Elizabeth City, NC; two nieces, Kathy Lilley of Richmond, VA and Mary Beth Bottoms of Key West, FL, and a nephew, Wray Bradley, (wife, Dianna) of Sands Springs, OK. She was preceded in death by her two brothers; Wray Bradley and Fulton Bradley.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 2 pm at Lincoln Cemetery, with Chaplain Vernon D. Izer officiating. The family will receive friends and family after the service at 150 Pheasant Cr., Chambersburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Menno Haven Benevolent Fund, 2075 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Nursing Staff of Walden Place at Menno Haven for their loving care of Margaret during the last two years.
