Margaret Patterson

April 29, 2001 — January 22, 2015

Margaret Mae “Maggie” Patterson, age 13, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 22, 2015. Born on April 29, 2001 in Fort Worth, Texas, she was the daughter of Karen Keyser Patterson and Chris Patterson (wife, Melette), all of Chambersburg. She is survived by her brother, Jack K., twin sister, Katie J., both of Chambersburg; step-sister Krista Shives (husband, Dylan) of Fairfax,VA; step-brother Damon Gordon (currently serving with the U.S. Navy in Kings Bay, GA), grandparents Gerald and Gloria Keyser, and Joyce Patterson, all of Chambersburg; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, James L. Patterson.
Maggie was the most precious, loving soul who touched everyone’s lives. We were blessed to have this little angel among us. She taught us all what love and grace truly mean. She battled her illness with a dignity beyond her years, always with a smile on her beautiful face. Her joy and spirit are her legacy and will always be with us.
Maggie was a seventh grade student at CAMS South. She loved school and being with all her friends. She played piano, sports, and sang in Chorus. She was excited to be cast with Katie as the eels in the upcoming play, The Little Mermaid. Maggie loved her brother and sister most of all.
Maggie loved her Penn State family: the Club Volleyball teams that adopted her through THON, and all the people she met. The care and love she received from her doctors and nurses at Hershey Medical Center inspired Maggie to want to become a pediatric oncology nurse. She wanted to help other children in their fight against cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, January 25, 2015 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg, with Rev. Mark Ruzicka officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 PM until the time of service. Interment will be private. The family requests the omission of flowers.
