Margaret Pugh

June 10, 1917 — November 13, 2015

Margaret B. Pugh, age 98, of Chambersburg, PA, and formerly of Carlisle, PA and Bonita Springs, FL passed away on Friday, November 13, 2015, at Penn Hall Nursing Center. Born June 10, 1917 in Port Washington, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Maloney Brooks.
Mrs. Pugh’s proudest accomplishment was her family. She met the love of her life, Carl Pugh, while employed at General Electric in Manhattan in 1941, and they were married for 64 years, raising six children together. A longtime resident of Carlisle, PA, she was a legal secretary for attorneys George Faller, Sr. and George Hoffer. She instilled in her family a passion for learning and a fascination with life and the arts. A woman of resolute faith, she was always active in her church. She had a great admiration for nature and the outdoors, which led to her love of gardening and bird watching. She had a creative, generous spirit and espoused doing all things properly. A resident of Citrus Park in Bonita Springs, FL for many years, Mrs. Pugh was known as the life of the party and enjoyed music, dancing with Carl, and staying active, participating in synchronized swimming until the age of 86.
Mrs. Pugh is survived by six children: Elizabeth Coller (husband Allen) of Reading, PA; Robert Pugh (wife Marcelle) of Georgetown, TX; David C. Pugh, Jr. (wife Jean Anne) of Shepherdstown, WV; Fred Pugh (wife Jeanne) of New Cumberland, PA; Mary Anne Goldberg (husband Mark) of Modesto, CA; and Lonnie Fontana (husband Robert) of Fairfax Station, VA; eleven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pugh was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Carlton Pugh, Sr., on January 11, 2006 and six siblings.
A memorial service will be held in Florida at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Catholic Charities, 120 Willow Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17109.
