Margaret Stanhope

February 2, 1933 — June 13, 2022

Margaret A. “Peg” Stanhope, 89, of Chambersburg, PA passed away the morning of Monday, June 13, 2022 in Paramount Senior Living Center. Born February 2, 1933 in Chambersburg she was the daughter of the late John C. and Eleanora (Etter) Aird.

She was a graduate of Chambersburg High School and then went on to attend Wheaton College where she participated in gymnastics. Peg worked at Christian Light Bookstore for a number of years. She later worked alongside her husband in insurance sales and investigation. She was a member of Five Forks Brethren Church and served as a Missionary in Northern Wisconsin and Greenwood Hills Bible Conference in Fayetteville, PA. Peg enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, gardening, and camping.

She is survived by three children, Kim L. Keltner of Alton, IL, Robert C. Stanhope, Jr. of Fayetteville, PA, and Jodi L. Shearer (David) of Chambersburg, PA; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Keltner (Melisa) of Missouri, Chris Stanhope (Shelby) of Colorado, Amber Kiefer (Zachary) of Chambersburg, PA, and Carlee Stanhope (Rahieme Brinton) of Chambersburg, PA, Jennifer Francis of Virginia Beach, VA, Janelle McKissick (Chris) of Gulfport, MS and Jonathon Shearer of Nashville, TN; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. “Bob” Stanhope who passed away January 9, 2018.

Services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, June 17, 2022 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with longtime family friend, Greg Garman officiating. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. The service will be livestreamed at https://view.oneroomstreaming.com/authorise.php?k=1655232985189968


The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday morning in the funeral home.
