Margaretta L. Crider Heckman, age 100, of Chambersburg, PA passed away at Menno Haven Nursing Center on Friday, July 24, 2015. Born July 7, 1915 in Greene Township, she was the daughter of the late George O. and Annie Horst Crider.
Mrs. Heckman was a 1933 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She was a homemaker most of her adult life. Mrs. Heckman was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in New Cumberland, PA and the Steadfast Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 479 in Camp Hill, PA. She enjoyed quilting and participating in her church.
Surviving is one son, Jerry Heckman and wife, Kathryn Heckman of New Hampshire; two grandchildren, Adam C. Heckman of Rockland, MA and Kristin Kozera of Blue Bell, PA; and five great grandchildren, Paige, Josephine, and Avery Kozera and Bella and Clayton Heckman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Heckman in 2013, five brothers, S. Elmer, Clyde C., Lester G., Paul, and Alvin Crider, and a sister, Ruth Davidson.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 1 PM in Ft. Indiantown Gap National Veteran’s Cemetery; where Chaplain Robert Keener will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 5 – 7 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 415 Bridge St., New Cumberland, PA 17070 or to the Menno Haven Benevolent Fund, 2011 Scotland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
