Marian Locke

March 18, 1929 — January 8, 2024

Marian “Mickey” Jennings Locke, age 94, of Chambersburg, and formerly of Fayetteville, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born on March 18, 1929, in Gettysburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late H. Theodore and Mary Catherine Eden Jennings. Mickey was a 1946 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and was employed early in her life with the Baltimore Life Company. She married Howard V. Locke, Jr. on January 12, 1955, and together they owned and operated the Hagerstown Motel in Hagerstown, MD, and then the Starlight Motel in Carlisle, PA. Howard preceded her in death on February 6, 2004.

Mickey was last employed as a real estate agent with Penn National Real Estate Services. She was a lifelong member of Zion Reformed Church in Chambersburg and a member of the Penn National Golf Club. She loved the game of golf and looked forward to her traditional Sunday bridge games with her family. An eloquent conversationalist even well into her 90’s, Mickey will always be remembered as a most socially-adept and classy lady.

Mickey is survived by a step-daughter, Barbara Bachtell and husband, Edward, of Hampstead, NC; two step-granddaughters, Cheryl (Teryl) Hammond and Diane (Philip) Savard; and three step great-granddaughters, Casie Griffith, Jackie Hinther, and Alyssa Savard; and four step great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her sister, Ann L. Brundage of Archbald, PA; and six nephews, Allan E. “Skip” Jennings, Jr., Tom Jennings, Jeff Brundage, Randy Brundage, Rob Brundage, and Bill Brundage. Aside from her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Allan E. “Bud” Jennings on January 29, 2009.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, January 15, in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with Rev. Thomas Dunkle officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on Sunday, January 14, at the funeral home. A private interment will be held in Orbisonia Cemetery, prior to the memorial service.
