Marian Welsh

Marian J. Welsh, 91, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Thursday morning, April 21, 2016 at The Village of Laurel Run in Fayetteville. Born January 6, 1925 in Penn’s Grove, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Margaret Reine Spears. A graduate of the Penn’s Grove High School, she was employed early in her life she had been employed by the Anchor Hocking Glass Company and at DuPont where she earned the US Army-Navy “E” Production Award Pin while working during WWII. She attended Air Hill Brethren In Christ Church. An avid golfer, Mrs. Welsh was a member of the Letterkenny Golf Club. She enjoyed bowling in the Tuesday afternoon Ladies League at Lincoln Lanes and also enjoyed crafts, landscape painting, and making stained glass. Her husband, Willard A. Welsh, whom she married September 13, 1943, preceded her in death on December 15, 1999.

She is survived by three children, Pamela DeVotie of Chambersburg, Lloyd W. Welsh of Greencastle, and Leroy T. Welsh of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Charlotte Zeidler of Carneys Point, NJ. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Monday, April 25, 2016 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Chuck Naylor and Rev. Ricky Zeidler will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM and Monday from 10:30-11:30 AM at the funeral home.
