Marie E. Thomas, age 87, of Fayetteville, PA went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. Born September 3, 1926 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Russell W. and Hazel M. Noll Gsell.
Marie was a lifelong member of the Mt. Union United Methodist Church, where she was very active and held many offices and was a former organist and pianist. A member of the Martha Custis Chapter No. 342 AES, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, AARP, and Retired Public Employees of Pennsylvania AFSCME Chapter 13. Mrs. Thomas was a 1944 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She retired from Letterkenny Army Depot with 35 years of service. She cherished the memories of camping, fishing, hunting, and playing golf with her husband. She enjoyed helping and giving to other people. Everyone who knew her will surely miss the lady that always had a kind word and helping hand and a smile to share and valued her family. She touched many lives by putting their needs first before her own. She was indeed an Angel on Earth. She received the most joy spending time in the comfort of her family and felt especially fortunate for the love and care provided by them. Marie recently wrote,” Anyone who had had the privilege of living on Gods’ world for 87 years in good health should be grateful and happy as I am.”
Surviving are two sisters, Doris J. Myers of Fayetteville, PA and Jane L. Gsell of Greensburg, PA; two dearly loved nephews, Blair R. Myers and Thomas M. Myers and a niece, Jackie M. Loar. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence R. Thomas and a brother, Herbert R. Gsell.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev.
