Ms. Marilyn A. Ross, 74, of Chambersburg, PA passed away the evening of Friday, February 12, 2021 in her home. Born September 6, 1946 in Queens, NY she was the daughter of the late Hugh M. Ross, Jr. and Margaret A. (Boening) Ross.
She was a graduate of the Franklin K. Lane High School, Brooklyn, NY. Ms. Ross then went on to obtain her bachelor’s degree in 1967 from Queens College now CUNY and then her master’s degree and Ph.D. from Cornell University.
Ms. Ross was a college professor teaching Greek, Latin and Archeology at Wells College, Aurora, NY she left there to become assistant to the President of Sweet Briar College, Sweet Briar, VA. She was also a professor and writer at Wilson College, Chambersburg, PA.
She was Board Chairperson of Chambersburg Hispanic American Center. Ms. Ross was also co-founder of SNAP, Support Network at Penn National and she was also on the Board of Directors at the Totem Pole Playhouse, Caledonia, PA.
She was the last of her immediate family.
A viewing will be held 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M., Friday, February 19, 2021 in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. CDC social distancing and mask requirements will be in place.
Burial will be held in Cypress Hills Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.
