Marion Elizabeth Howard Strickler, 86, of Chambersburg, died Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Menno Haven Nursing Home.
Marion was born to the late Marion and Laura Howard on May 14, 1927 in Hornell, NY. She graduated from Penn Hall Preparatory School. She received her B.S. in Retail and Merchandising from Drexel University in Philadelphia in 1949.
Marion was the co-owner of The Little Shop in Chambersburg for many years.
She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of the Falling Spring, previously serving as a deacon and volunteering at the Church office.
Marion was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was married in 1953 to John J. Strickler, V.M.D. (surviving). They recently celebrated their 60th anniversary on June 20, 2013.
She is also survived by four children: Elizabeth Strickler (Dan Snyder) Boalsburg PA, Jane Mackey (Rick) Chambersburg, John Strickler (Christine) Chambersburg, and Daniel Strickler (Deb) Chambersburg. Affectionately known as “Mimi” by her seven grandchildren: Andrew Mackey, Daniel Mackey, Nate Strickler (Kate), Elizabeth Strickler, Hank Strickler, Luke Strickler and Samantha Strickler. She instilled a love of reading, a sense of humor and a giving heart into all of her children and grandchildren.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Marion’s honor to Franklin County Library Service.
