Mark L. Runyon, 51, of Fayetteville, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2021 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born September 27, 1969 in Chambersburg, he was a son of Clement L. Runyon, Jr. and Dale W. Horner Runyon.
Mark was a 1989 graduate of CASHS. He was employed as a wiring technician with Bowhead Integrated Support Services at Letterkenny Army Depot. He attended Pond Bank Community Church. Having been partially paralyzed himself for over 36 years, Mark was very active in a spinal cord support group out of the Hershey Medical Center. Mark enjoyed wheelchair racing, wheelchair basketball and wheeled the Marine Corps Marathon three times. He also enjoyed tinkering and was always busy working with his hands. One of his favorite things to do was to go out to eat with his family. His family joked that he always knew someone wherever he went.
Aside from his parents, Mark is survived by his wife, Stacy R. King Runyon, his middle school sweetheart, whom he married on October 27, 2018; his step-daughter, Jessica Shoemaker and husband Nathan of Chambersburg; three siblings, Matt Runyon and wife Barb of Fayetteville, Michele Hawbaker and husband Mike of Shade Gap, PA, and Chad Runyon of Fayetteville; and nine nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday March 13, 2021 at the Pond Bank Community Church, 6555 Duffield Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Jeremy Lehman will officiate. A private interment will be at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to support the Spinal Cord Injury Support Group at Hershey Medical Center. Please make checks payable to Penn State University.
