Marlin K. Pisle, 96, of Chambersburg, passed away peacefully June 23, 2018 at Falling Springs Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for the past four years.
Marlin was born on March 12, 1922 in Smoketown, PA to Bernice Pisle Wadel. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1944- 1946, serving aboard the USS Sutton in the North Atlantic Theatre. Prior to his Naval Service, he worked at Landis Machine Shop. After the war he worked at Letterkenny Army Depot as a missile mechanic, retiring in 1973. He served in the Civil Air Patrol for many years and was a first aid instructor in the 1960’s.
He had a love of cars, especially the Mercury Brand, selling them part-time for many years. He and his loving wife of 60 years, Grace Miley Pisle were active in the Bible Release Program and they volunteered many years at Camp Joy-el. He loved gardening and going to local bluegrass jams held at various locations throughout the area. He attended Park Avenue Church.
Marlin was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace and two children, Marlin Jr and Sherry Marie Pisle Clugston. He is survived by his second wife, Esther Crider, a daughter Shirley Baccellieri, Chambersburg/ Cape Coral FL, and stepbrothers, R. Lee (Frances) Wadel and Ralph (Mary) Wadel. He also has four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and four great- great grandchildren.
His funeral service will be held Wednesday June 27, 2018 at 1PM in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home 333 Falling Spring Rd Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Rachel Wong officiating. Burial with Military honors will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests making a donation in Marlins honor to a charity of their choice. .
