Marlyn D. Stoops, 62, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born September 17, 1954, in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Orville and Reba Bumbaugh Stoops.
Marlyn was a 1972 graduate of CASHS. He was previously employed as an auto body technician at Hal Lowry Ford, Valentine’s Auto Body, and J&S Auto Body. He was most recently employed as a supervisor at Domestic Castings in Shippensburg for 25 years until his retirement. An avid outdoorsman, Marlyn enjoyed hunting fishing and boating at Raystown Lake and Long Pine Reservoir. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved his dogs, Max, Josie and Tyke.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Diane R. Stinson Stoops, whom he married on June 15, 1974; two children, Kenneth D. Stoops and Carrie B. Keifman and husband Brian, both of Chambersburg; two grandchildren, Catarina and Caden Keifman of Chambersburg; and two siblings, Glenn Stoops and wife Elsie of Chambersburg and Isabelle Miller of McConnellsburg. In addition to his parents, Marlyn was preceded in death by six siblings, Eugene Bumbaugh, Vivian Stoops, Connie Seals, Janet Hardsock, Faye McKee and Mary Elizabeth Stoops.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 19, 2016, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Murray Stevens will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Blvd, Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852.
