Martha V. Copeland

Martha V. Copeland, 72, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Doey’s Hospice House in Hagerstown. Born March 13, 1946 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Earl Fletcher and Mary K. James, and stepfather Eligah James of Hagerstown.

Martha was a certified nursing assistant as well as a geriatric nursing assistant, most recently working at Julia Manor in Hagerstown. She was a member of Brownsville Church of God in Fayetteville, where she was also involved in the singles ministry. She loved working as a seamstress and enjoyed needlepoint, crochet, and embroidery. She was also a bookworm who loved reading.

Martha is survived by her four children; Karla Hill-Freeman, and husband George, of West Columbia, SC, John A. Copeland III, and wife LaShann, Chevonne S. Marshall, and Stephen F. Copeland, Sr., all of Hagerstown, MD; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; as well as her aunt Maxine Troy of Lawnside, New Jersey and numerous cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Neil Fletcher.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 16, 2018 at Brownsville Church of God, 6390 Lincoln Way E, Fayetteville, PA 17222. Interment will follow the service at Brownsville Church of God Cemetery. Pastor Victor Johnson will officiate. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service in the church.
