Martha Frey

Martha N. Frey, 93, of Chambersburg, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Village Square, Menno Haven. Born February 6, 1930 in Greene Township, she was a daughter of the late Howard F. and Mary E. Martin Lehman. Her beloved husband of 36 years, Marlin L. Frey, whom she married on February 16, 1963, preceded her in death on March 16, 1999.

A homemaker most of her life, Martha was dedicated to making a home for her family. She loved teaching the Bible to various age groups and served as teacher in Sunday School, Bible School, Bible Adventures, and taught Christian School for 6 years. She was a member of Chambersburg Mennonite Church where she was active in the sewing circle. She also volunteered her time at Menno Haven and the Cumberland Valley Relief Center.

She is survived by four children, Gary L. Frey (Cheryl) of State Line, Karen J. Martin (Del) of Chambersburg, Laura M. Lehman (Allen) of Chambersburg, and Jay M. Frey (Karalee) of Waynesboro; nine grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Jean Anders of Manheim, and Cora Lehman of Chambersburg. Aside from her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by three siblings, Lewis Lehman, Eleonora Brenneman, and Jay Lehman; one grandchild; and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, November 16, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Chambersburg Mennonite Church, 1800 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Rev. Dale Lehman and Rev. Allen Lehman will officiate. Private interment will be in Chambersburg Mennonite Church Cemetery.
