Martha Shoop

Martha J. Shoop, 88, of East Waterford, PA, passed away on Thursday evening, December 17, 2015 at her home. Born August 16, 1927 in Port Royal, PA, she was a daughter of the late Earnest S. and Roseanna Dalton Peterson. Her beloved husband of 67 years, Dale C. Shoop, whom she married on August 10, 1946, preceded her in death on November 18, 2013.

Martha was a 1945 graduate of Port Royal High School. She was a farmer and a homemaker all of her adult life. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, painting, cooking for her family, and watching gameshows.

Surviving are five children, Richard Shoop (wife Linda) of Concord, PA, Susan McMullen (husband George) of Chambersburg, PA, Bonnie Moats of Chambersburg, PA, Betty Wingert (husband Russell) of Concord, PA, and Robert Shoop (wife Yvonne) of Shippensburg, PA; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Raymond Peterson (wife Barbara) of Newville, and Dorothy Berry (husband Leon) of Port Royal. In addition to her husband and parents, Martha is preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, and one grandson.

A funeral service to honor Martha’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 21, 2015 at the Agett-Geisel Funeral Home, 18875 Main St. Dry Run, PA 17220. Rev. Marlin A. “Butch” Neil will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Upper Path Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends one from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Sunday and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
