Martha Sollenberger

Martha G. Sollenberger, 93, of Chambersburg, PA, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Providence Place. Born on March 19, 1918 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late J. Clyde and Mary Dice Reed. A homemaker most of her life, she was a member of Crider’s United Brethren Church. She enjoyed flowers and sewing. Her beloved husband, Maurice R. Sollenberger preceded her in death on August 29, 2006.

She is survived by her daughter Linda L. (and husband, Tex) Shaffer of Chambersburg; two granddaughters, Lori (and husband, Randy) Shearer of Chambersburg and Torina (and husband, Anthony) DeVice of Havertown, PA; four great grandsons, Hunter Gunnar, Gavin and Blake and one great great granddaughter, Lacey.

She is also survived by a brother, Abram Reed and a sister, Ruth Heffner, both of Chambersburg and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Lee Sollenberger in 1947; six brothers, David, Charles, Frank, Harry, Garnet, and John and two sisters, Orpha Wingert and Mary Wingert.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, July 2, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA, with a visitation from 10-11 AM. Rev. Ronald Cook will officiate. A private interment will be held in Lincoln Cemetery, prior to the memorial service.
