Martha Wright

July 22, 1931 — September 24, 2018

Martha Wright, 87, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, September 24, 2018 in the emergency room at Waynesboro Hospital. Born July 22, 1931 in Letterkenny Township, she was a daughter of the late Ernest M. and Margaret G. Wells Clever. Mrs. Wright was a 1950 graduate of the Shippensburg High School and was employed early in her life at Letterkenny Army Depot and then at the former Stanley Company, retiring after 13 years of service. She was a 27 year member of Grand Point Church (formerly Chambersburg First Church of God) where she was active with the Bible Basic Sunday School Class, Senior Life, and the Ladies Bible Study. Her husband, Kenneth F. Wright, whom she married on October 1, 1950, preceded her in death on September 16, 1990.

She is survived by her daughter, Marsha L. Wright of Harrisburg; her son, Kevin K. Wright of Upper Strasburg; two grandchildren, Jaime Strange and husband Josh and Brenton Cox and wife Christie; three great-grandchildren, Alexis, Elizabeth, and Maxwell; two step great-grandchildren, Meredith and Shaeleigh; her brother, Roy Clever and wife Dorothy of Thurmont, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.

A memorial service to celebrate Martha’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 1, 2018 at Grand Point Church, 2230 Grand Point Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Donald Drury will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Monday at the church.

Martha was a breast cancer survivor and wished that those desiring to make a contribution in her memory do so to the American Cancer Society, Franklin Fulton Unit, 924 North Colonial Avenue, York, PA 17403.
