Martin Caufman

Martin J. Caufman, 82, of Fayetteville, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017, at Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born October 5, 1935 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Martin L. and Rhea Eberly Caufman.

A US Army veteran, Martin served honorably from 1958-60. After his discharge from the Army, he was employed at Letterkenny Army Depot as a mechanic until his retirement in 1990. Martin enjoyed collecting toy trains, working on cars and he specifically enjoyed Saab vehicles.

Martin is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Izer Caufman; two daughters, Brenda L. Karns and husband Terry of Hagerstown, MD and Karen M. Free of Fayetteville; two granddaughters, Lauren E. Free of Fayetteville, and Amy M. McClure and husband Ryan of Stephens City, VA; and his great-grandson, Raiden Free. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Katherine Naugle.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Terry Ulrich will officiate. Interment at Lincoln Cemetery will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
