Martin Young

July 13, 1942 — January 16, 2015

Martin A. “Marty” Young, 72, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away Friday evening, January 16, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Born July 13, 1942 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Martin A., Sr. and Helen Murphy Young. Marty was a 1960 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School and served in the US Navy. He managed the former P. Nicklas and Sons in Chambersburg for more than twenty years and retired in 2006 from Colony House Furniture. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, BPO Elks Lodge # 600, and was a 3rd Degree Knight with Knights of Columbus Council 1426, all in Chambersburg. Marty enjoyed fishing, golf, yard work, spending time with his grandchildren, and making people laugh. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Killen Young, whom he married December 28, 1963; his daughter, Michelle D. West of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Bradley West (fiancé Amanda White), Tyler West (fiancé Brittany Loucks), and Stephanie West; his sister, M. Judith Brady (Mike) of Lock Haven; several nieces; one nephew; and a life-long friend, Tom Wertz. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin brother, John T. Young.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Chaplain Alan Echard officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
