Marvin Bivens, age 71, of Maurertown, VA and formerly of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at Fairfax Inova Hospital in Falls Church, VA. Born in Chambersburg, PA on March 25, 1951, he was the son of the late S. Homer and Marie G. Phencie Bivens.
Mr. Bivens worked as a Diesel Mechanic for a number of years, starting his career at Nitterhouse Concrete Products and then moving to Allied Waste in Hagerstown, where he spent the next 20 + years, retiring in 2016. He enjoyed hunting, watching NASCAR, watching Deer, ATV’s, going to the Mountain, and time with his granddaughter and great-granddaughter.
Surviving is his companion, Pauline Harris of Maurertown, VA, granddaughter, Shandi McMullen (Phillip) of Dry Run, PA, great-granddaughter, Trinadi McMullen, and brother, C. Wayne Bivens (Sue) of Greencastle, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Bivens in 2006, daughter, Karena Bivens in 2009, and two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022, at 3 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Vera Keith will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1-3 PM in the funeral home prior to the service. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery.
