Marvin F. Stoner, 86, of Chambersburg, passed away on January 7, 2021 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 9, 1934 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Edgar and Edna Stumbaugh Stoner.
Marvin was employed with the Chambersburg Boro at the power plant as a dispatcher and later as manager for 10 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Chambersburg Bible Church. Marvin served as a volunteer firefighter with the Franklin Fire Company Station 4 and also volunteered with the fire police.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Alice H. Stoner, whom he married on June 5, 1982; two children, Rodney Lee Stoner and wife Peggy of Chambersburg and Mike Stoner and wife Cindy of Williamsport, PA; three grandchildren Aaron, Brandon and Kristin Stoner; and two great grandchildren, Hadley and Jackson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Pastor Gary Yoder and Pastor Carl McKee will officiate. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. CDC social distancing and mask requirements will be in place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin Fire Company, 158 W. King Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
