Mary V. Logue Bitner, 88, of Chambersburg, passed away on May 6, 2020 at Manor Care Health Services in Chambersburg. Born December 2, 1931 in Windber, PA, she was the daughter of late Guy Logue and Esther Dayton Meyers, and was raised by her late foster parents Fred and Virgina Niswander. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chambersburg. She enjoyed cleaning, puzzle books, and was an avid reader.
Mary is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jerry D. Bitner, whom she married on September 1, 1956; children, Saundra K. Defenderfer of Chambersburg, PA, Karen S. Chmelovsky (Peter Dolan) of Sparks, NV, and Carla J. Hill (Brad) of Metarie, LA; six grandchildren, Adam Defenderfer (Heather), Brandon Chmelovsky (Virginia), Jordan Chmelovsky, Justin Howarth (Crystal), Cody McCoy (Jerica), and Ricky Howarth, Jr. (Carenda); eight great-grandchildren, Brody, Jada, Siah, Carter, Addison, Rylan, Symphonie, and Raelynn; and brothers Paul and Howard Logue. In addition to her parents, and foster parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, John and Charles Logue, grandson Joshua Chmelovsky, and great grandson Danon Defenderfer.
Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
