Mary Ann Castelli (Stohler) passed away on Oct. 3, 2023, at the Yeager Memory Care Home in Menno Haven in Chambersburg, PA. Born December 31, 1935, in Lebanon, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence & Jean (Baird) Stohler
A graduate of West Chester University and the Pennsylvania State University, she was a dedicated public school educator. Teaching primarily in CASD, she was both a reading specialist and an elementary classroom teacher. She was active with PSEA. Mary Ann was a devoted member of St. John’s UCC and loved singing with the choir. An avid world traveler, she enjoyed many trips with her husband, family, and friends.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dennis M. Castelli; daughters Mary Beth Oles (Mark) and Amy Leedy (Vincent); grandchildren Julia Leedy, Paul Leedy, Luke Oles, & Mary Kate Oles; sister Nancy Tinkham (Bradford); sister-in-law Kathy Castelli. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Stohler; brother-in-law, Edwin Dunlap; and nephew, Stuart Tinkham.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 11 AM at St. John’s UCC, 1811 Lincoln Way East, Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Caroline Saxton will officiate. The family will receive visitors after the service. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Inc., Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. John’s UCC or the Menno Haven Benevolent Fund. Interment will be private.
