Mary Christman

Mary E. Christman, 98, of Chambersburg, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at the Shippensburg Health Care Center. Born June 23, 1919 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Charles B. and Ellen L. Holtry Christman.

Mary was a lifelong member of St. James United Brethren Church where she taught Sunday School for over 30 years and served as the Secretary of the church’s Administrative Board. She was employed as a clerk at J.C. Penny’s in Chambersburg. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family.

She is survived by her sister, Mildred Wallech of Chambersburg and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, Carrie Arrowood and Merle Christman; and one nephew, Douglas Wallech.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 12, 2018, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Murray B. Stevens and Rev. Robert Mentzer will officiate. Interment will follow the service in St. Thomas Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James United Brethren Church, 2404 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
