Mary Cook

Mary Delores Cook, 87, of Mont Alto, PA, went to be with the Lord on August 10, 2016 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born April 2, 1929 in Waynesboro, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen Potter Linn. Her beloved husband, Thomas Ray Cook, Sr., preceded her in death in 1998.

Delores was a 1947 graduate of Greencastle High School. A homemaker most of her life, she was employed in her early years as a cook at Potter’s Restaurant in Greencastle. Delores was Gold Star Mother and a past member of the American Legion Post 15 in Waynesboro. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, red birds and playing cards.

She is survived by her son, Robert Jon Cook and wife Susan of Mont Alto; four grandchildren, Lisa Cook McCabe and longtime companion Shannon Gates, Bobby Lee Cook, Rodney Murphy and Jeff Murphy; and six great-grandchildren, Nickalus Gates, Bryce McCabe, Elisah Owens, Jadelynn Cook, Brookelynn Cook and Nathan Cook. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Thomas Ray Cook, Jr., and daughter, Linda Kay Cook Murphy.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 13, 2016, in Quincy Cemetery, Quincy PA. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
