Mary C. Danzberger, 93, formerly of 228 East Washington Street, Chambersburg, PA, passed away Sunday morning, July 6, 2014 at the Shippensburg Health Care Center. Born August 20, 1920 in Muddy Run, Letterkenny Township, PA, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Ruth Hoover Etter. During WWII she served with the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps for six months. She retired in 1977 from the H.J. Heinz Company in Chambersburg where she had worked for many years. She was a long-time member of Second Evangelical Church in Chambersburg where she and her husband maintained the church for twenty years. She had a passion for gardening. Her husband, John W. Danzberger, whom she married June 6, 1950, preceded her in death on October 3, 2000.
She is survived by three children, Faye Ellen Wenger of Chambersburg, Rhonda Wolf and husband Darrel of Vancouver, WA, and John Danzberger, Jr. of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren, John W. Danzberger, III, Blatin P. Danzberger, Danielle M. Danzberger, Richard N. Danzberger, Stephanie Wenger, Michael Wenger, Matthew Wenger, Craig Kennedy, and Michelle Griffiths; twelve great-grandchildren, Bethany, Clavin, Luke, Adam, Cecilia, and Roman Wenger, John W. Danzberger, IV, Miley and Phoebe Danzberger, Coral, Karley, and Arrianna Kennedy, Samantha and Megan Griffiths; and two sisters, Rhoda Eckman of Chambersburg and Laura Heckman of Lynchburg, VA. Aside from her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kathy Jo Danzberger; two sisters, Margaret Warren and Dorothy Sleighter; and four brothers, John, Edgar, Lester, and Emery Etter.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Salem Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Henry Johnson officiating. There will be no viewing.
