Mary Dibert

August 18, 1935 — June 5, 2015

Mary Dibert, age 79, had her homecoming on June 5, 2015 in Frederick, MD. Mary was born in Waynesboro, PA on August 18, 1935, and was the older daughter of the late Ralph and Eleanor (Shafer) Hoffman. After graduating from Juniata College, Mary married J. Earl Dibert on June 8, 1958 at the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren. Earl preceded her in death on July 26, 2013.

Mary is survived by three sons, David and wife Deb of Laytonsville, MD, Steven and wife Holly of Ellicott City, MD and Kevin of Hollywood, FL; five grandchildren, Michael and wife Laura, Lauren, Abigail, Timothy, and Julianna; a sister, Joyce Parfet (Mrs. James) of Mechanicsburg, PA; 2 nephews, Robert and Douglas Parfet; three sister in-laws, Mary Dibert Fluke, Ruth Dibert Johnson and Doris Dibert; and numerous cousins.
Throughout her life, Mary lived in Elizabethtown, Shippensburg, University Park, Dillsburg, Hemet, and Chambersburg. Over the years, she was employed at Waynesboro Hospital, Glasgow Fabric Sewing Center, Church of the Brethren Pre-School, and Good Advertising. Mary and Earl enjoyed volunteering for Camp Eder, Habitat for Humanity, Brethren Disaster Response, Milton Hershey Home, and Concept Seven. They had a small solar business, served on the Chambersburg Election Board, and were active members of the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren. Mary enjoyed needlework, crafts, organ playing, picture taking, computer editing, traveling, and camping.

A Graveside service will be held at Antietam Cemetery, 10610 Wayne Hwy., Waynesboro, PA 17268 on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 10 AM, where Pastor Daniel House and Pastor Darlene Stouffer will officiate. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:00 noon on Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Chambersburg Church of the Brethren, 260 S. Fourth St., Chambersburg, PA; where a memorial service will follow to honor Mrs. Dibert’s life at noon. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Camp Eder, 914 Mt. Hope Road, Fairfield, PA 17320.
